The Role of Elections Canada

Under the provisions of the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, Elections Canada provides support services to the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commissions.

The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commissions are the independent bodies that make all decisions regarding the proposed and final federal electoral boundaries for their respective provinces.

Elections Canada's support services include a variety of professional, financial, technical and administrative functions, including assistance with mapping, census data, publications, advertising and the maintenance of this Web site.

Elections Canada also liaises with such agencies and government departments as Statistics Canada and Natural Resources Canada and with the Speaker of the House of Commons on behalf of the Commissions.

Elections Canada is the non-partisan agency responsible for the conduct of federal elections and referendums.
