National Forum on Youth Voting

Elections Canada: Media: Youth Activities: National Forum on Youth Voting

youth/jeunesse

On October 30–31, 2003, Elections Canada hosted a National Forum on Youth Voting in Calgary. This event, which brought together representatives of youth, business, non-governmental, Aboriginal and labour organizations, as well as academics, researchers and the media, aimed to sensitize participants and the public to the decline in youth voting in federal elections and its implications. The Forum provided an exchange of information and experience among groups that are working to address this trend. In particular, it provided suggestions for actions by Elections Canada, leading Canadians and interested organizations.
