ELECTIONS CANADA ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF JUDICIAL RECOUNT IN THE ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF JEANNE-LE BER

OTTAWA, Wednesday, July 7, 2004 — The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean-Pierre Kingsley, announced today that Liza Frulla has been declared elected in the electoral district of Jeanne-Le Ber (Quebec), following a judicial recount completed on July 6, 2004, by Justice Clément Gascon of the Quebec Superior Court.

At the 38th general election held on June 28, 2004, the difference between the Liberal Party of Canada candidate, Liza Frulla, and the Bloc Québécois candidate, Thierry St-Cyr, was 35 votes in favour of Liza Frulla. Following the judicial recount, the difference between the two candidates is 72 votes.

The following are the results of the recount for all candidates in the riding of Jeanne-Le Ber:

The returning officer for Jeanne-Le Ber, Marcel Henley, will complete the writ of election and forward it to the Chief Electoral Officer, who will sign the writ, officially declaring Liza Frulla elected.
