JUDICIAL RECOUNT CANCELLED FOR THE ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF
REGINA–LUMSDEN–LAKE CENTRE

OTTAWA, Friday, July 9, 2004 — The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean-Pierre Kingsley, announced today that a judicial recount of the votes in Regina–Lumsden–Lake Centre (Saskatchewan) was terminated at the request of the applicant. As a result, the returning officer of the electoral district has declared elected Mr. Tom Lukiwski, the candidate of the Conservative Party of Canada.

At the 38th general election held on June 28, 2004, the difference between the Conservative Party of Canada candidate Tom Lukiwski and the Liberal Party of Canada candidate Gary Anderson was 121 votes in favour of Mr. Lukiwski. Following validation of the results by the returning officer, Louise Holloway, the difference was 122 votes, again in favour of Mr. Lukiwski. The candidate placing second requested the judicial recount.

The returning officer for Regina–Lumsden–Lake Centre will now complete the writ of election and forward it to the Chief Electoral Officer, who will sign the writ and publish the name of the elected candidate in the Canada Gazette.
