Elections Canada Announces Results of Judicial Recount
in the Electoral District of Kitchener–Waterloo
OTTAWA, Friday, October 31, 2008 — The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Marc Mayrand, announced today that Peter Braid has been declared elected in the electoral district of Kitchener–Waterloo (Ontario), following a judicial recount completed on October 31, 2008, by Mr. Justice Donald Gordon of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
At the 40th general election held on October 14, 2008, the difference between the Conservative Party of Canada candidate, Peter Braid, and the Liberal Party of Canada candidate, Andrew Telegdi, was 48 votes in favour of Peter Braid. Following the judicial recount, the difference between the two candidates is 17 votes.
The following are the results of the recount for all candidates in the electoral district of Kitchener–Waterloo:

The returning officer for Kitchener–Waterloo, Henry William Schmidt, will complete the writ of election and forward it to the Chief Electoral Officer, who will sign the writ and publish the name of the elected candidate in the Canada Gazette.
