Meeting Summary – Annual General Meeting of the Advisory Committee of Political Parties – June 21–22, 2010

Concluding Remarks from the CEO

Committee members played a truly advisory roll throughout the meeting's proceedings and in their work on the recommendations report. The report is fair and well balanced, but as always, more could be done – and will be – in future reports. The CEO encouraged all parties to make appearances before PROC and voice their concerns. It was emphasized that major changes in the electoral process have to be done incrementally (i.e. VIC as identification, e-registration, use of assistive voting devices). These changes and improvements to the voting process will benefit voters, political parties and Elections Canada alike.
