Cathy Wong

Cathy Wong is President of the Conseil des Montréalaises. A law graduate, she is a youth development officer with the YMCAs of Québec and on the board of directors of the Société des célébrations du 375e anniversaire de Montréal. She has a special interest in immigrant women's issues, their access to services and their place in decision-making bodies.

Ms. Wong has chaired the Forum jeunesse de l'île de Montréal and the Jeune Conseil de Montréal. From 2010 to 2011, she sat as a youth intern officer on the board of directors of the Caisse populaire Desjardins in Verdun. In 2009, she helped set up a group to assist women in Kiburanga, Kenya, and in 2010, was involved in the Haiti YMCA rebuilding project in Port-au-Prince. Ms. Wong has hosted of a number of cafés scientifiques for the Armand-Frappier Museum and facilitated training sessions on international development for the YMCAs of Québec. She was also featured on CIBL 101.5 and Radio Centre-Ville's Les Oranges Pressées and Midi Express programs.

In the fall of 2012, Ms. Wong was one of 10 contestants on the La Course Évasion autour du monde television program and learned filmmaking by shooting videos in various countries, including Peru, Fiji, South Korea and Nepal. She received the Hommage bénévolat award in 2009 for volunteerism from the Québec department of employment and social solidarity.
