4. Complaints and Judicial Review

Individuals who object to the handling of their personal information or of the processing of a request under the Privacy Act can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).

One complaint was filed against Elections Canada regarding an isolated privacy breach that occurred in 2013–2014. The OPC deemed the complaint well founded. On the day of the breach, Elections Canada took measures to contain it and notify the affected individuals.

The OPC concluded an investigation into an outstanding complaint from 2012–2013. This complaint was not well founded.

No judicial reviews were reported to Elections Canada in 2013–2014.
