List of confirmed candidates for the 2000 General Election

In preparation for the federal general election on Monday, November 27, 2000, the list of confirmed candidates in each of the 301 electoral districts is now available.

The deadline for the nomination of candidates was Monday, November 6, 2000. Among the 1 808 candidates, 1 433 are men and 375 are women. Women account for 20.7 percent of all candidates, compared to 24.4 percent for the 1997 federal election.
