ELECTIONS CANADA RELEASES OFFICIAL ADDITION RESULTS OF THE 36th GENERAL ELECTION
(Ottawa, June 19, 1997) The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean-Pierre Kingsley, today released the official addition results of the 36th general election held on June 2, 1997, as provided to the candidates by the returning officers in each of the 301 electoral districts across the country.
In those electoral districts where a judicial recount was conducted and completed, the results have been amended accordingly.
A copy of the official addition results by electoral district in hard or soft copy is available by contacting Elections Canada at 1-800-INFO VOTE (1-800-463-6868). A summary by province of the document can also be printed from Elections Canada's Web site (http://www.elections.ca).
Elections Canada will now begin the process of verification and quality control of these results and will publish the final official voting results of the 36th general election pursuant to section 193 of the Canada Elections Act, the report of the Chief Electoral Officer entitled Thirty-Sixth General Election: Official Voting Results. This report will provide detailed poll-by-poll results as well as synoptic tables and other relevant information for each of the 301 electoral districts at the 36th general election.
