CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER OF CANADA – OVERVIEW OF FEDERAL ELECTORAL PROCESS

OTTAWA, Wednesday, June 23, 2004 — The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean-Pierre Kingsley, will hold a news conference on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the National Press Theatre to talk to Canadians about the federal electoral process.

He will explain in detail – especially to Canadians voting for the first time – how easy and simple it is to vote.

Mr. Kingsley will also supply the media with relevant statistics about revision, advance voting and voting by special ballot, and will explain several rules, such as those for broadcasting election results.
