OFFICES OF RETURNING OFFICERS FOR THE BY-ELECTIONS
IN BERTHIERMONTCALM AND LAC-SAINT-JEANSAGUENAY
ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
(OTTAWA, Tuesday, November 5, 2002) The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean-Pierre Kingsley, announced today that by-election offices have been opened in the electoral districts of BerthierMontcalm and Lac-Saint-JeanSaguenay in Quebec. The returning officer is the election officer who is responsible for conducting the by-election in each electoral district.
"People may contact the office of the returning officer for their electoral district to add their names to the list of electors or correct the way their names are listed," noted the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean-Pierre Kingsley. "This office can also provide very helpful information about the electoral process."
In particular, electors can obtain information about the options available to them if they do not wish to vote on election day, December 9, 2002, or at the advance polls on November 29, November 30 and December 2, 2002.
