Registered Political Parties Receive
Third Quarter Allowances

Gatineau, Thursday, October 2, 2014

• Registered political party third quarter allowances for the 2014 fiscal year have been paid. These allowances are based on the results of the 41st general election of May 2, 2011.
• Registered political parties that meet voting thresholds in a general election are eligible to receive quarterly allowances.
• The current annual allowance is $0.1275 per valid vote. This annual allowance is paid in quarterly instalments.
• Pursuant to the Canada Elections Act, the quarterly allowances are being reduced over a three-year period.
