Pursuant to section 435.01 of the Canada Elections Act, the first quarterly allowance for 2005 is the product of $0.4375 multiplied by the number of valid votes cast in the 38th general election. The sum obtained is adjusted by using the inflation adjustment factor in effect on April 1, 2004, of 1.028.

The second, third and fourth quarterly allowances are calculated using the inflation adjustment factor in effect on April 1, 2005, of 1.047.
