Canada's Federal Electoral Districts

The size and boundaries of each electoral district are key factors that Elections Canada must consider when determining where polling locations should be set up to ensure that electors can have the best possible access to the polls. You can find your current electoral district by using the Voter Information Service.

The Constitution of Canada requires that the number of seats in the House of Commons be recalculated and the boundaries of federal electoral districts be reviewed after each 10-year census to reflect changes and movements in Canada's population. This process is known as the redistribution of federal electoral districts.

The latest redistribution process began on February 9, 2022, and ended on September 23, 2023. The new boundaries and districts will be in effect for a federal general election called any time after April 22, 2024. A general election called before that date would be conducted using current electoral boundaries, as would any by-election called before the new boundaries are in effect.
