New Survey Results on Canadians' Electoral Participation
- Elections Canada has participated in Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey in order to better understand voter turnout in Canadian federal elections.
- Two voluntary questions on voter participation were added to the May edition of the survey to help us identify patterns and trends in voting and non-voting behaviours among Canadian electors.
- The results were released by Statistics Canada in the publications The Daily and Perspective on Labour and Income. These reports are available on Statistics Canada's Web site at http://www.statcan.gc.ca/daily-quotidien/110705/dq110705a-eng.htm and http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/75-001-x/2012001/article/11629-eng.htm.
- The information will help Elections Canada make federal elections more accessible to Canadians, by supporting its efforts to identify and remove the barriers that prevent some electors from voting.
