This electronic publication details the contributions received and the election expenses incurred by candidates in the June 1997 general election and in subsequent by-elections. This publication also details the election expenses incurred by registered political parties at the general election as well as their receipts and expenses by fiscal period from 1994 to 1997.

The data for candidates is compiled from the Candidate’s Return Respecting Election Expenses as filed with Elections Canada by the official agent of each candidate. This report includes details of all contributions over $100.00 and all candidates’ expenses.

The data for registered political parties is drawn from the parties’ returns of election expenses and from their fiscal period returns as filed. The lists of contributors for registered political parties are available on this Web site.

Every effort has been made to accurately capture the information as reported in the candidates’ and parties’ returns. However, in the event that an error is brought to our attention, we will correct it in a future update of the files.
