Upon registration, Elections Canada must receive application by the political party which includes:
- The General Form – Political Party
- Declarations of leader, officers, and 250 party members
Within 6 months after becoming a registered party, Elections Canada must receive:
- The Statement of Registered Party Assets and Liabilities, as of the day before registration
- The Auditor's Report
In the case of voluntary and involuntary deregistration, the registered party will receive from Elections Canada:
- The Notice of Deregistration which specifies the effective date of deregistration
Within 6 months after deregistration date, Elections Canada must receive:
- All outstanding financial reports and the Auditor's Report

Within 30 days after a change of registry information, Elections Canada must receive:
- Report change of registry information including change of leader or appointment of officers and registered agents
On June 30 of every third year (starting from 2016), Elections Canada must receive:
- The General Form – Political Party (declarations of 250 members of a registered party or an eligible party)
Within 30 days after the end of the quarter, Elections Canada must receive:
- The Registered Party Financial Transactions Quarterly Return
On June 30 of every year, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) must receive:
- Contributions to a Registered Party or to a Registered Association – Information Return
On June 30 of every year, Elections Canada must receive:
- The Declaration of the leader of a political party
- An annual statement of registry information
- The Registered Party Financial Transactions Annual Return
- The Auditor' Report
Within 10 days after general election is called, Elections Canada must receive:
- Report change or confirm the validity of registry information
- Report names of designated representatives
Within 8 months after elections day, Elections Canada must receive:
- The Registered Party Return in Respect of General Election Expenses
- The Auditor's Report
Within 30 days after nomination contest held by the party, Elections Canada must receive:
- The General Form – Nomination Contest
Along with the transfer of funds to a leadership contestant, the registered party must send:
- The Statement of Directed Contributions Received and Transferred to a Leadership Contestant
