Disposition by the Commission of Objections Filed by Members of the House of Commons

Commission's Report

Upon completion of the public hearings, the Commission prepared its report. The report was then transmitted to the Speaker of the House of Commons by the Chief Electoral Officer. The report was tabled in the House of Commons on March 28, 2003 by the Speaker and referred to the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs to give members of the House of Commons another opportunity to comment on changes to the federal electoral boundaries. Section 22 of the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act provides for the filing of objections to the report with the clerk of the committee within a period of 30 days from the day a copy of the Commission's report is referred to the committee. An objection must be in the form of a motion signed by not less than 10 members of the House of Commons.
