4. ComplaintsAnnual Report on the Privacy Act for the period ending March 31, 2023

Individuals who disagree with the handling of their personal information or the processing of a request under the Act can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer was made aware of three complaints filed with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in 2022–2023, alleging that it contravened the collection, use and disclosure provisions of the Act. These complaints were resolved at early resolution. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer was not aware of any active complaints on the last day of the reporting period.
