Section 2: Satisfaction with How the Election Went

This section provides an overview of the level of satisfaction of election officers with regards to their work experience at their respective polling center during the 41st general election.

General Satisfaction

Overall, 93% of election officers were fairly or very satisfied when asked to rate how they felt the election went at their polling centre. Compared to the national rate of satisfaction (93%), officers in Manitoba were significantly more satisfied (98%) with their overall experience.

Information officers were more likely to report being satisfied overall (96%) than any other group, with almost two thirds stating that they were very satisfied (64%). In contrast, deputy returning officers were slightly less likely to report being satisfied (92%) and less likely to report being very satisfied (53%). No statistical differences were found according to the type of poll.

Satisfaction with how the general election went was higher in 2011 (93%) than in 2008 (89%) in all regions, especially in Manitoba, where 98% of officers indicated being either fairly or very satisfied, an increase of 14 points of percentage over 2008 (84%). Election officers in British Columbia were also significantly more satisfied (94% in 2011 vs. 86% in 2008).
