Committee Reporting the Bill with Amendments in the House of Commons (2021-06-21)
The bill would temporarily amend the Canada Elections Act to assist in the delivery of a safe and secure election during the COVID-19 pandemic. These amendments include:
Replacing polling day with a three-day polling period;
Greater flexibility regarding the delivery of in-person polling in long-term care facilities;
Broadening the scope of the Chief Electoral Officer's power to adapt the Canada Elections Act; and
Facilitating the application and voting process for special ballot voting.
