- The top sources of encouragement for older adults were news media, politician or party, and friends and peers, followed by Aboriginal organization, if an Aboriginal respondent, and family not including spouse.
- Community organizations, ethnic or cultural organizations, and organizations representing people with disabilities were among the less frequently cited sources of encouragement, though cited a little more by younger cohorts than older adults.
