Apply to vote by special ballot

Eligible electors can apply to vote by special ballot. With a special ballot, you can return your ballot by mail from anywhere in the world, or in person at a local Elections Canada office, or on polling day at any polling location in your electoral district.

If you live in Canada, you may apply once an election has been called.

If you live abroad, you may apply anytime – click the button below.

A by-election will be held on December 12, 2022 in the electoral district of:

  • Mississauga–Lakeshore (Ontario)

The deadline to apply to vote by mail has passed; it was December 6, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., Eastern Time.

If you have not already applied to vote by mail, please vote at your election day polling place on December 12, 2022.

If you have a special ballot, return it before the deadline: your marked special ballot must be received by Elections Canada by Monday, December 12, 2022. Follow the instructions in your special ballot voting kit regarding when and where to return your marked ballot.
