About the Register of Future Electors
The Register of Future Electors is a list of Canadian citizens aged 14 to 17 who signed up as future electors. When they turn 18, their name will be added to the National Register of Electors (NROE), and they'll be ready to vote in federal elections.
The easiest way to register as a future elector is online.
How it works
- To register, you must be:
- A Canadian Citizen
- Between 14 and 17 years old
- Living in Canada
- If you qualify:
Register online: it's easy and secure.
- At 18 (happy birthday!),
you'll be registered to vote in the next federal election.
Accepted ID to register
You must be a Canadian citizen between 14 and 17 to register as a future elector.
Here are the options for acceptable ID:
OPTION 1
Upload 1 piece of ID with your photo, name, and current address.
Examples:
- Driver's licence
- Any card issued by the government (federal, provincial, or local)
OPTION 2
Upload 2 pieces of ID. Both must show your name, and at least one must show your address.
Examples:
- Health card + bank statement
- Student ID card + subscription bill
